Fertilisers are available in pellets, slow-release form, granule and liquids.

Pellets

Organic fertilisers include pelletised animal manure, such as Yates Agriboost, seaweed or fish based pellets, like Charlie Carp Fishworks, and blood and bone based products, such as Amgrow Naturals and Yates Thrive Dynamic Lifter pelletised plant foods. These products are easy to use and distribute, with an adult handful holding approximately 70 grams, and easy to follow application rates are clearly stated on the back of the packet.

Slow Release

Scotts Osmocote consists of small beads of high- quality fertiliser that is released when the bead’s soy coating breaks down, giving the plant a controlled dose of nutrients. There are six different types of Osmocote, specially formulated for use on specific plant groups. Yates Acticote slow release fertiliser is another range in stock at Peards Nursery Albury. Like Osmocote, it is colour coded and comes in four different types: for Natives; Pots, Planters and Garden Beds; Fruit Citrus, Trees and Shrubs; and Roses and Flowering Plants. Both brands are sold in a durable, sealed plastic container keeping the product fresh. For tradespeople or those with an extensive garden, Osmocote can also be bought in a bulk bag.

Granule

Granule fertilisers are popular and easy to apply, particularly to lawns. The granules break down or are dissolved in water which then makes the nutrients able to be absorbed by plant roots. Granule fertilisers available at Peards Nursery Albury include Yates blood and bone, Yates Thrive soluble all-purpose food and Neutrog’s SeaMunGus organic registered plant health tonic.

Liquid

Liquid fertilisers come in ready to use forms or concentrates and can be organic or inorganic. These products are applied to plants using a watering can to the roots or over the plant’s foliage. Because the nutrients are in liquid form, they are instantly available to be taken up by the plant, making them a quick fix for any plant nutrient deficiencies or timely feed for stronger growth or better blooms.
